CR80/CR79/CR100 – These numbers refer to the size of the cards, specifically, the length and width of the blank cards.
CR80 – This is the most commonly used blank card size and is the size of a regular credit card.
CR79 – This is a slightly smaller blank card, usually reserved for adhesive cards where the card needs to fit just inside the outer rim of the older style clamshell proximity cards.
CR100 – These are larger cards and require specific large format ID card printers usually only used for national ID cards in limited places around the world.

CR80 Cards are 54mm x 86mm and are the size of a standard credit card. They are the most commonly used card size for ID Cards, Club Membership and Loyalty Cards.
30mil, 10mil, 40mil – These measurements refer to the thickness of the blank cards. A “mil” is a unit of length which is equal to 0.001 (thousandth) of an inch. While not a common measurement term outside of the USA, it’s the most common card thickness measurement for ID Cards around the world.
30mil cards are the most common type all the card thicknesses.
While all ID Card Printers will be able to print on blank cards outside this range, it’s best to check your ID Card Printer settings first, just in case. Some ID Card Printers may struggle to grip 10mil thick cards, and some may not be able to pass thicker 50mil cards through the card path.

Blank ID Cards generally don’t come with any visible security features. This is something that is added through your ID Card Printer Laminator module add-on, or through your laminator ribbon film.
To make your ID Cards more secure and tamper-proof, look at adding a Lamination Module upgrade for your ID Card Printer.
The Lamination module upgrade is only available to specific ID Card Printer models such as the Entrust (Datacard) Sigma DS2 with CLM or Entrust (Datacard) Sigma DS3 with CLM and will increase the security on your card and the durability by adding an additional film layer to your card.
